Clear Falls and Clear Springs meet Saturday, Oct. 17, at Challenger Columbia Stadium in a District 18-6A game that could shape the playoff picture for both League City schools.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The Knights (3-3 overall, 2-1 in district) enter riding back-to-back blowout wins. Clear Falls beat Clear Brook 52-21 during the week of Sept. 23 and routed Clear Lake 58-21 during the week of Oct. 1, according to the Galveston County Daily News. Those two district wins outscored opponents 110-42.

Clear Falls' three overall losses include a 44-17 non-district defeat to Barbers Hill during the week of Sept. 17. The opponent in the Knights' lone district loss has not been confirmed in available records.

Ryan Sarten's Clear Springs Chargers (2-4, 1-2) head in the opposite direction. The Chargers lost to Dickinson 59-7 and fell to Deer Park 38-21 before the bye week. The 59-7 loss to Dickinson was the most lopsided defeat for any League City squad this season.

Clear Springs' lone district win came against Clear Creek, 23-21, during the week of Sept. 17.

The matchup "could determine which of them reaches the postseason and which will see an extended postseason streak come to an end," the Galveston County Daily News reported. A win would push the victor to 3-1 in district play and strengthen its playoff position. A loss would drop the loser to 1-3 with three district games remaining.

Clear Creek (1-5, 0-3) rounds out the League City trio in District 18-6A. The Wildcats have been outscored in district play, falling to Dickinson 49-6 during the week of Oct. 1 and losing to Clear Springs 23-21 in Week 4. Clear Creek travels to face unbeaten Deer Park (6-0, 3-0) at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Abshier Stadium.

Week 9 opponents for Clear Falls, Clear Springs and Clear Creek have not been announced.
