Hometown Heroes Park drew 1,153 voters on Monday, Oct. 19, making it the busiest polling site in Galveston County on the first day of early voting for the Nov. 3 election.
Three other League City sites posted first-day numbers in the hundreds, according to Galveston County's daily turnout report. The Public Works Operation Center on West League City Parkway logged 990 in-person ballots. The League City Annex on Calder Road recorded 944. The Crossings on Egret Bay Boulevard tallied 444.
Bay Colony West HOA, at 6621 Calder Road in Dickinson, is also listed as a League City voting location. It recorded 351 ballots.
Across all 25 Galveston County early voting sites, 13,656 people cast in-person ballots on the opening day.
The local turnout tracked with a broader regional pattern. Neighboring Harris County surpassed its previous midterm first-day record of 63,188, set in 2018, with more than 104,600 ballots cast on Oct. 19, Houston Public Media reported.
League City voters are deciding several high-profile races. The ballot includes contests for mayor and City Council Positions 1, 2, 6 and 7, each for four-year terms, plus an unexpired term for Position 3 ending in November 2028, according to the city's election notice. Proposition A, a nonbinding measure, asks whether the League City Police Department should continue using automated license plate reader cameras at fixed locations on public roadways.
