Four free or low-cost events fill League City's calendar from Oct. 24 through Oct. 31, offering residents shopping, live music, food trucks and holiday browsing across the Historic District and South Shore Harbour.
The lineup opens Saturday, Oct. 24, with the Halloween Market at 100 Perkins Ave. Presented by Sunset Bazaar, the market features more than 60 local vendors, karaoke and a pumpkin decorating contest, Community Impact Newspaper reported. Shoppers are encouraged to wear costumes. Admission is free.
The following Friday, Oct. 30, brings two events in the Historic District.
Butler's Courtyard marks its 10th annual block party at 122 N. Michigan Ave. The food truck festival runs from 6 to 9 p.m. with live DJs, and Halloween costumes are welcome. Admission is free. Ronnie and Nancy Richards founded Butler's Courtyard in 2002 inside a 1909 building that once housed League City's first bank. Their daughters Amber and Shawna purchased the business in 2017 and now co-own the venue. On the venue's website, co-owner Amber called running Butler's Courtyard "more than a job, it's a dream come true."
A few blocks away at League Park, 512 2nd St., the League City Folk Association and League City Historical Society present Women in Music starting at 7 p.m. Seven artists perform across multiple genres: Briean Day, Christie Alan, Anna Clarke, Leah Dawn, Wendy Elizabeth Jones, Jordyn Paul and Maddy Grace. Maranda Hart emcees, according to the Bay Area Entertainer. The concert is free, and guests can bring chairs, food and drinks. The Folk Association, co-founded by Tucker Hart, hosts a free monthly music series at League Park organized entirely by volunteers and musicians.
The week closes Saturday, Oct. 31, with the third annual Nutcracker Market at South Shore Harbour, 2500 S. Shore Blvd. Organized by Southern Style Event, the market runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features holiday-themed vendors. The event page lists a $5 ticket option; residents should check the site for current pricing.
