Clear Springs High School has a new principal for the 2026-2027 school year, one of 12 leadership changes across Clear Creek ISD that Superintendent Dr. Karen Engle formally introduced at the Monday, Aug. 24 board meeting.

Erin Schmidt, whose appointment the board unanimously approved in May on a motion by Trustee Cunningham, now leads the League City campus. She was among a dozen principals Engle welcomed during the Aug. 24 meeting as they begin the new school year.

The full list: Cory West at Clear Path High School, Vanessa Reyes at Creekside Intermediate, Jeffery Prince at Westbrook Intermediate, Holly Troyer at Ferguson Elementary, Kimberly Fernandez at Ross Elementary, Betsy Horner at Bay Elementary, Kara Massey at Falcon Pass Elementary, Jenny Toups at Whitcomb Elementary, Chenier Bibb at Campbell Elementary, Erin Tite at McWhirter Elementary and Pamela Baggett at North Pointe Elementary.

Some moves were lateral swaps. Horner and Toups switched campuses, with Horner moving to Bay Elementary and Toups to Whitcomb Elementary, according to May 4 board minutes.

District's TEA score climbs to 89

Engle also reported that CCISD earned an overall Texas Education Agency accountability score of 89 for 2026, up from 88 the prior year, according to a district announcement. All seven CCISD high schools earned an A rating, including Clear View High School, the district's dropout prevention campus, which posted a 96.

"Our goal this year is for a 90 or higher and we are certainly well within that reach," Engle said when the TEA released ratings on Aug. 14.

The TEA rated 1,202 districts statewide; 24% improved their score compared to 2025. Within CCISD, 26 campuses earned one or more distinction designations, with total distinctions rising from 77 last year to 80. Post-secondary readiness designations jumped from 13 to 16.
