Dickinson High School filled Sam Vitanza Stadium on Wednesday, Aug. 26, for its annual Meet the Gators pep rally.

The free event introduced the Gators' fall athletes and featured performances by the Gator Band, Diamonds Dance Team and cheerleaders. Dickinson ISD described it as a "community-wide Fall Sports Pep Rally" on its Instagram page, noting that no ticket was required.

The district's official X account posted afterward that "Sam Vitanza Stadium was full of Gator Pride" as the community turned out for the tradition.

Superintendent Rebecca Brown wrote on X after the event: "One of my favorite Gator Nation traditions … There's something special about seeing every generation together, sharing the same pride, spirit and love for Dickinson."

Gators enter 2026 ranked No. 10 in state

Dickinson carries serious momentum into the fall. The Gators posted a 13-1 record in 2025, matching the program's all-time win total set in 2014 and during the 1977 state championship season, according to the Houston Chronicle. Dickinson averaged 50 points per game last season.

The Gators are ranked No. 10 in the Class 6A preseason state poll.

Season opener and Clear Springs matchup ahead

Dickinson opens the 2026 football season Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. against Ridge Point at Sam Vitanza Stadium, according to the program's Facebook page.

The Gators' Homecoming Parade is set for Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 5:30 p.m. The Homecoming Game follows on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. against Clear Springs. That matchup pits the Chargers against one of the state's top-ranked Class 6A programs.
