Dina DuBose Driskill, an attorney, is running for League City Council Position 1 in the Nov. 3 general election. The nonpartisan race also includes Dinah Carpenter and Gordon Bethel.
Asked why she is running, Driskill said in our candidate questionnaire: "I am running for League City Council Position #1 to protect citizens' privacy rights from unwanted surveillance with Flock cameras, protect our property values from potential nuisances (i.e. data centers), work to prevent flooding and maintain the small town feel while allowing for sensible growth that takes the surrounding neighborhoods into account."
Candidate information
Education: "I have a Doctorate of Jurisprudence (JD)," Driskill said in our questionnaire.
Family: "I've been married to my loving husband, Cory, for over 25 years and I am mother to my wonderful teenage son, Luke," she said.
Residency: As of her Aug. 17, 2026, ballot filing, Driskill had lived in Texas for 55 years and in the Position 1 territory for 25 years and 10 months.
Previous office: "This is my first election," Driskill said.
Party affiliation: "The issues I am campaigning on are bipartisan," she said.
Family in government: "No one in my immediate family has worked in politics, but I have worked in local and state government and in federal contracting," Driskill said. "My father (Vietnam) and grandfather (WWII) were veterans."
Experience and public service
Asked about her occupation and work history, Driskill said in our questionnaire: "I'm an attorney who has taught college Government and Business Law in addition to my career reviewing Government and Commercial Contracts. I have worked in a variety of business and government sectors including state and local government."
On the issues
What sets her apart from other candidates: "I have a broad background and legal expertise that set me apart," Driskill said. "I also have a willingness to read all of the reports and not rely on someone else's summary to make sure the City knows what it is signing up for with its agreements. I bring the perspective of a mom, and that perspective has been absent from League City Council for far too long. I also feel that the west side of League City is under represented on Council. Being on the verge of breaking ground on the Grand Parkway and tremendous ongoing development, we need to have flood prevention oversight and studies completed to protect our homes."
Evidence she can handle the job: "My experience as an attorney reviewing and negotiating thousands of contracts in a variety of business and governmental sectors, that include state and local government, will be an asset to serving on City Council," Driskill said. "I have worked in multiple levels of government and have reviewed and negotiated billion dollar contracts. I wouldn't have agreed to a contract that gave a company a license to our citizens' data like the one the City has with Flock and my background as a Government Professor would have come into play when analyzing the threat this agreement posed to our Constitutional Civil Liberties."
Driskill filed for the Position 1 seat on Aug. 17, the last day of the candidate filing window, as we reported. The election is Nov. 3.
