League City donors have helped save 899 lives through blood donations in 2026, and the city wants to push past 1,000 before the year ends.

The next chance to give is Oct. 13 at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center, 400 W. Walker St. The drive runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Every donor walks away with a free blanket and a voucher for a free pint from Houston-based Saint Arnold Brewing Company, according to the city's announcement.

The perks change each month. At the Sept. 8 drive, donors received free socks and a voucher for free admission to ARTECHOUSE Houston.

Closing in on the record

Last year, League City's blood drives saved just over 1,000 lives, setting a community record. With three months left in 2026, the city needs roughly 100 more donations to match that mark.

The tally has climbed steadily. As of Aug. 25, the count stood at 824. By late September it had reached 899, a gain of 75 lives saved in about five weeks.

The 2025 record did not come easily. Last October, the city acknowledged on its official X account that it was falling short of the 1,000-life goal heading into the final stretch. Donors ultimately pushed the total past the mark before the year ended.

The city said in its late-September announcement that it has "just three more months" to beat the 2025 record, putting the Oct. 13 drive squarely in the push toward that milestone.
