League City donors have already helped save 824 lives through blood donations in 2026, and the city wants to push past its 2025 record of just over 1,000.
The next chance to give is Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center, 400 W. Walker St. The drive is a partnership with Gulf Coast Blood Center.
Every donor will receive free socks and a voucher for free admission to ARTECHOUSE Houston, an immersive digital art experience at 600 W. 6th St. in Houston.
The city's announcement said the community is on pace to beat last year's record if turnout continues. League City donors saved just over 1,000 lives in 2025, and the 824 figure through late August puts 2026 within reach.
Residents can find registration details and reserve a time slot through the city's announcement page or at giveblood.org, the Gulf Coast Blood Center's website.
A second drive later in September
The Sept. 8 event is one of two coming up on Walker Street. The League City Police Department will host its own Gulf Coast Blood drive on Monday, Sept. 21, from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at LCPD headquarters, 555 W. Walker St. Appointments for that drive are available at commitforlife.org.
Between the two drives, residents have nearly a full day's worth of donation windows within a two-week stretch, all within a block of each other on Walker Street.
