League City homeowners still dealing with damage from Hurricane Beryl and other 2024 storms can now apply for state-funded repair assistance worth up to $75,000, with applications reviewed first-come, first-served.

The Texas General Land Office has two programs open to homeowners in Galveston County and 26 other federally designated counties. One covers rebuilding; the other reimburses out-of-pocket repair costs already spent. Combined, the GLO has set aside $287.2 million for the effort.

Residents don't need to wait. Applications are live at recovery.texas.gov/apply, and homeowners can call 1-844-893-8937 or email [email protected] with questions.

For those who prefer in-person help, the GLO will host an outreach event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Moore Memorial Public Library in Texas City, KPRC 2 reported. Attendees can learn whether they qualify and get help starting an application.

Two programs, one application window

The Homeowner Assistance Program, backed by $244.1 million, helps repair or reconstruct owner-occupied single-family homes damaged in the 2024 disasters.

The Homeowner Reimbursement Program, funded at $43.1 million, covers out-of-pocket repairs homeowners already paid for. Eligible reimbursements range from $3,000 to $75,000 for stick-built homes and $3,000 to $50,000 for manufactured housing units.

Homeowners may apply for only one of the two programs, and both are limited to a primary residence.

Who qualifies

The programs are tied to two federal disaster declarations: DR-4781, covering severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding across Texas in 2024, and DR-4798, covering Hurricane Beryl. Funding comes from HUD's Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery program.

League City falls within Galveston County, one of the 27 eligible counties. Neighboring Brazoria, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties also qualify.

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham announced the program launch on July 9, 2025, saying the GLO's housing programs had helped more than 12,000 Texas families rebuild. By January 2026, that number had grown past 14,000 families across all GLO disaster recovery efforts, according to the agency's January 2026 newsletter.

Separate from faith-based rebuild program

The GLO program is distinct from the faith-based coalition building free storm-replacement homes in Galveston County that we reported July 31. That effort offers entirely new homes for qualifying survivors; the GLO program provides financial assistance and reimbursement for repairs to existing homes.

No application deadline has been announced, but the GLO says applications are processed first-come, first-served, and eligible homeowners should apply immediately.
