Juan Jose Uribe Pelaez has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly stabbed both of his parents inside their Oaks of Clear Creek home on Friday, Aug. 7, killing his mother and critically injuring his father, the League City Police Department confirmed Saturday, Aug. 8.

Pelaez's bond was set at $250,000 on each charge, totaling $500,000. He was booked into the League City Jail.

The stabbing occurred at a home in the 1300 block of Deer Ridge Drive. According to The Daily News, the father called 911 at approximately 7:11 p.m. Friday, reporting that he and his wife had been stabbed. Patrol officers arrived about three minutes later and found the father in the front yard with multiple stab wounds.

The father told officers his wife remained inside the house with the suspect. Officers looked through a window and saw a woman lying motionless in the living room.

After forcing their way in and repeatedly ordering Pelaez to come out, officers called in the Galveston County Sheriff's Office Drone Team. The team deployed a drone inside the residence, which located Pelaez in a bedroom, according to the League City Police Department. That allowed officers to determine his exact position before entering the room, where they used a Taser to take him into custody.

Both victims were transported to a hospital. The woman was pronounced dead. Her identity had not been released as of Saturday. The father remained hospitalized in stable condition.

The aggravated assault charge carries a family violence designation, and League City police confirmed to ABC13 that Pelaez is the victims' son.

Police have not disclosed a motive.

The case remains under investigation. As we reported earlier Saturday, the suspect was initially held without charges before the formal charges, suspect identification and bond amount were confirmed later that day.
