League City commuters heading home Thursday, Aug. 27, should expect delays near I-45 and Galveston Road as President Donald Trump arrives in Houston around 5 p.m.
Trump is visiting NASA's Johnson Space Center for a Friday, Aug. 28, ceremony awarding the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the Artemis II crew, which includes League City resident and mission pilot Victor Glover. The presidential motorcade's security corridor will squeeze traffic through southeast Houston on Thursday evening and Friday morning, CW39 Houston reported.
No official closures have been announced.
CW39 noted that law enforcement had not released confirmed road closures as of Wednesday, Aug. 26. The routes below are based on the expected presidential movement corridor near Ellington Field and Johnson Space Center.

The medal ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. CDT Friday, according to NASA. Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen will join Glover in receiving the honor. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman is also expected to attend.
The Artemis II crew completed a 10-day trip around the Moon aboard NASA's Orion spacecraft on April 10, marking the first crewed voyage beyond the Moon in more than five decades. League City held a street celebration for Glover days after splashdown.

CW39 advised drivers to allow extra time for both commutes, noting presidential security movements can shift without warning.
