Two League City intermediate schools will offer specialized career-focused courses for the first time in the 2026-27 school year under Clear Creek ISD's expanding STREAM of Innovation program.

Victory Lakes Intermediate, Clear Creek Intermediate and Clear Lake Intermediate are the three campuses added to the program for 2026-27, joining Space Center Intermediate, which launched the initiative in late February 2025. STREAM stands for space, technology, robotics, engineering, arts and medicine.

Each new campus has a distinct focus. Victory Lakes, which serves about 944 students in grades 6-8, will concentrate on medical science. Clear Creek Intermediate, with about 653 students, will focus on creative thinking strategies. Clear Lake Intermediate takes on aviation and aerospace.

Community Impact first reported the expansion, which quadruples the program from one school to four.

CCISD Innovative Programs Coordinator Laura Mackay said the state recognized a gap in career programming at the intermediate level, between what elementary and high school students had access to.

The program follows a three-year sequence. Sixth graders take a Launch class covering executive functioning skills and career overviews tailored to their school's pathway.

In seventh grade, students can opt into a themed elective. Eighth graders can take a high school credit course or complete a capstone-style project.

That pipeline is already producing results at Space Center Intermediate, the program's pilot campus. Eighth graders there who complete an Engineering Essentials course earn high school credit and enter year-two engineering as freshmen.

"They're going right into the more advanced engineering courses at the high schools … as a freshman, they're going to be sitting in a year two engineering course," Space Center Intermediate Principal James Dinardo said.

All four STREAM schools also offer library makerspaces with coding, robotics and creative design lessons, along with interest clubs and community partnerships unique to each campus.

CCISD plans to add Bayside Intermediate and Creekside Intermediate in fall 2027, with a drone course planned for Clear Lake Intermediate that same year. Mackay said the district's goal is for every intermediate campus to have a STREAM program by 2030.

The expansion comes as CCISD faces a projected $18.4 million budget shortfall for the 2026-27 fiscal year. District officials have cited STREAM and other initiatives, including open enrollment expansion and a tuition-based pre-K program, as strategies to grow enrollment across the roughly 39,684-student district.
