League City installed new water tank mixers at two pump stations to help keep drinking water circulating and disinfectant levels steady.
The Water Production Maintenance crew placed Big Wave mixers in the ground storage tanks at the Dickinson Pump Station and the 3rd Street Well Station, according to the city's Public Works Week in Review published Thursday, Oct. 29.
The mixers increase tank turnover and promote uniform mixing, the city said. That helps reduce areas where water may remain stagnant and supports water quality as water moves from storage into the distribution system. The equipment also reduces temperature differences inside the tanks and maintains more consistent disinfectant levels.
The city described the installations as part of its continuing effort to maintain and upgrade water production facilities. The upgrades give the operations team another tool to help manage stored water quality, the city said.
The 3rd Street Well Station is also part of a separate $1 million capital improvement project to upgrade motor control centers at three of the city's oldest water plants: Meadow Bend, Walker Street and 3rd Street, according to the city's water capital projects page. That project was listed in the design phase as of March 2026.
