Federal agents arrested 465 people and seized more than 300 kilograms of narcotics in a month-long sweep across Galveston County and neighboring counties, the U.S. Marshals Service announced Tuesday, Sept. 1.

League City sits in Galveston County, one of the operation's primary target areas. No city-by-city arrest breakdown has been released.

The operation, called Operation Washout – Texas Tide, ran from July 29 through Aug. 28 across Galveston, Brazoria, Chambers and surrounding counties. Officers cleared 595 outstanding warrants and seized 23 firearms and about $21,000 in cash.

The U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitives Task Force in Galveston led the effort. Sixteen federal, state and local agencies participated, including FBI Houston, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Galveston Police Department, Texas City Police Department, La Marque Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Galveston County District Attorney's Office.

U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Texas T. Michael O'Connor oversaw the operation alongside Assistant Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal Regino Quintero, who manages Marshals operations in the Galveston area.

The operation targeted violent felony offenders, known gang members, firearms offenders, narcotics offenders and people wanted on outstanding warrants, according to the Marshals Service. The multi-agency approach let investigators pursue offenders whose activity crossed city and county lines.

FBI Houston said on X on Wednesday, Sept. 2 that it partnered with the Marshals task force as part of the initiative.

Texas Tide also falls under Summer Heat 2.0, a nationwide 95-day anti-crime campaign the FBI launched in June 2026 to target violent gangs, illegal weapons and high-risk fugitives, according to Hoodline.

The Marshals Service said enforcement efforts will continue across the Southern District of Texas. Residents with information about fugitives or violent criminal activity can submit tips to the FBI at tips.fbi.gov.
