League City's Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will take up the city's final Capital Improvement Program draft and begin scoping road projects for fiscal year 2029 when it meets Monday, August 10, at 6 p.m. at 400 West Walker St.
The session is the committee's first since June 8, according to the posted agenda certified by Christopher Sims, the city's executive director of development services.
The sole substantive agenda item is listed as "Review and Discussion of the Final CIP Draft and Potential FY2029 CIP Project Scoping." The agenda does not specify which projects are included in the draft or what new work may be proposed for FY2029.
Active intersection projects exceed $9 million
The CIP review comes as League City manages at least six active intersection improvement projects with combined budgets exceeding $9 million, according to the city's League City Listens engagement platform. Several of those projects involve construction zones that affect traffic flow and driver safety on major corridors:
- FM 518/Country Lane — $552,000, construction underway, substantial completion anticipated August 2026
- Lawrence Rd./Village Way — $615,000, construction began June 22, 2026
- Maple Leaf Drive/League City Pkwy. — $1,396,806, construction anticipated September 2026
- Walker St./League City Pkwy. — $2,762,910, in design phase
- FM 518/Bay Area Blvd. — $647,598, bid phase fall 2026
- SH 97/FM 270 — $3,256,000 via federal Surface Transportation Block Grant, bid phase fall 2026
A seventh project, League City Pkwy./Calder Rd., was completed in April 2026 at a cost of $2,023,051.
Two larger efforts also loom. TxDOT is slated to begin construction on Grand Parkway Segment B-1, a 14.2-mile tolled corridor from FM 646 southward, in late 2026 or early 2027. That project will directly affect League City roadways including Hobbs Road, Calder Road, and FM 646.
The Clear Creek Village Soundwall Project along the I-45 corridor carries a city CIP budget of $200,000 and is in design coordination and utility relocation, with construction anticipated spring 2027, according to city records.
