League City firefighters responded to a home in the 300 block of Pinnacle Cove Court on Wednesday, Sept. 16, after a bathroom ventilation fan began smoking.

Crews were dispatched at about 7:55 p.m. for a reported structure fire, KGTX 7 first reported. The homeowner, who declined to be identified, told the station the smoking came from a restroom fan.

Kemah and Webster fire departments also responded as mutual aid. A KGTX 7 crew at the scene did not observe fire hoses being deployed.

Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP) responded and temporarily cut electricity to the residence.

No injuries were reported.

Patricia Tronchin, a friend and neighbor of the family, told KGTX 7 she was told "bathroom ventilation fans should be inspected about every 10 years because the issue can be common with aging units."

The KGTX 7 report did not include a statement from the League City Fire Department or a cause determination for the smoking fan.
