League City voters have five days left to cast early ballots before Election Day.
Early voting runs through Friday, Oct. 30, with polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day at four League City locations. The final week comes as the Houston region reports record-breaking midterm turnout, with Galveston County among the area's leaders in voter participation.
Harris County shattered its first-week early voting record, with more than 624,000 people casting ballots in person or by mail, the Harris County Elections Office reported, according to ABC13 Houston. Nearly 41,000 Harris County residents voted in person on Sunday, Oct. 25, the most for a seventh day of early voting in a midterm election.
The surge extends beyond Harris County. Texas Secretary of State data show Fort Bend County leading the area, with 27% of registered voters already casting a ballot, ABC13 reported Monday, Oct. 26. Brazoria, Austin and Galveston counties are not far behind.
As we reported Oct. 25, the League City Annex was already among the busiest polling sites in Galveston County through the first five days. Four early voting locations serve League City residents this week:
- League City Annex, 174 Calder Road
- The Crossings, 255 N. Egret Bay Blvd.
- Public Works Operations Center, 1701 W. League City Parkway
- Hometown Heroes Park, 1011 E. League City Parkway
The record turnout has drawn attention from both parties' statewide candidates. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, a Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, said his side still has ground to make up. "We still have 600,000 high propensity voters that have not voted yet," Patrick said.
Vikki Goodwin, a Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, said people are already excited and voting early, ABC13 reported.
Beyond statewide races, League City's ballot includes several City Council seats and Proposition A, which would authorize fixed automated license plate reader cameras, according to the city's election page.
There is no voting the weekend before Election Day. Polls reopen 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
