Elementary-aged kids in League City can learn medical basics from teen volunteers at a free, hands-on event Monday, Aug. 10, at Helen Hall Library.
The program, called "By Kids, For Kids: Medical Essentials," puts teenage volunteers in the role of instructor. They developed the session and will present it to younger children through interactive games focused on medical concepts, according to the city's event calendar.
The event starts at 2:30 p.m. in the Susan Mathews Theater at Helen Hall Library, 100 W. Walker St. Admission is free, and no registration is required, according to the city's listing. Families looking for more details can call League City Parks and Recreation at 281-554-1180.
The city describes the session as participatory and game-based, promising that learning won't feel like learning.
The event fits a broader pattern of teen-led programming at Helen Hall Library. Members of the library's Teen Advisory Board lead recurring programs including Teen Doodle Spot, which meets Thursday, Aug. 6, and Thursday, Aug. 20, in the library's second-floor Teen Room. Helen Hall Library received a 2025 Texas Book Festival Grant through the Texas Book Festival and the Texas Library Association, reflecting the facility's active programming and outreach efforts.
The Susan Mathews Theater, where the Aug. 10 session will take place, is equipped with monitors, whiteboards, and a green screen.
