A trading card and collectibles shop opened its third Houston-area store in League City on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Waxxed Sports Cards set up at 2925 Gulf Freeway S., Suite G, joining the chain's existing locations in Houston's Rice Village and Katy. Community Impact Newspaper first reported the opening on Sept. 7.
The store sells sealed trading cards across sports and pop-culture categories: baseball, football, basketball, soccer, Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon. It also buys and sells single cards for cash or store credit.
Sales associate Carey Appling told Community Impact the shop is built around more than product shelves. Tables are set up for customers to sit, open packs and hang out. The store serves drinks and snacks.
"Waxxed Sports Cards is a social gathering place just as much as it is a retail shop," Appling told Community Impact.
The League City location hosts a trade show on the last Saturday of every month from 3 to 6 p.m. Free pizza and drinks are served at the event, according to the Community Impact report.
The next monthly trade show falls on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Three Houston-area stores
The League City shop joins two other Waxxed locations in the Houston area. The Rice Village store sits at 2528 Rice Blvd. in Houston. The Katy store is at 23702 Westheimer Pkwy, Unit 702A, according to the company's website.
Community Impact reported in October 2025 that Waxxed operates storefronts across Texas, Florida and Colorado. A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing listed the Rice Village buildout cost at about $175,000, that report said. The company employs between 51 and 200 people, according to its LinkedIn profile.
