Dickinson ISD families who complete a free or reduced-price meal application before school starts Aug. 13 could unlock discounts on SAT, ACT, and AP exam fees, college application costs, and home internet service.
The district opened its online application for the 2026-27 school year on Thursday, July 30. The form, available at mealappnow.com, can be completed on a phone, tablet, or computer.
Beyond the cafeteria
While the application determines eligibility for free or reduced-price meals, the district says approval may also qualify students for discounted SAT, ACT, and AP exam fees, college application fee waivers, and reduced-cost internet service. Those benefits are administered by third parties such as the College Board and internet providers, not the district itself.
The application also helps Dickinson ISD secure federal funding tied to the number of qualifying students.
The district already provides free breakfast to all students in 2026-27 regardless of application status. The meal application is a separate step that determines lunch pricing and unlocks the additional benefits.
What families need to know
A new application is required every school year. The only exception: households that received a Direct Certification letter, which automatically qualifies students without reapplying. Families who received that letter but find that not all students in their household are listed should call the Food and Nutrition Services Department at 281-229-6012.
One important detail: the application must include every person in the household, not just students, to ensure accurate eligibility.
