League City property owners who want their 2026 tax bills delivered by email instead of mail have until Tuesday, Sept. 15 to sign up.

The deadline applies to all property owners in Galveston County. Galveston County Tax Assessor Collector Cheryl E. Johnson announced the registration window in an office notice posted this month. Property owners can register at galcotax.com.

To enroll, owners search for their account on the site, scroll to the bottom of the account page and click "Register to Receive Electronic Tax Statements."

Who should sign up

The tax office said the option is especially useful for homeowners who recently bought a property, refinanced or paid off a mortgage. According to the notice, lenders often request tax statements over the summer. That means owners who changed their loan status may not receive a paper bill without registering for the electronic version.

That matters because, under Texas law, not receiving a tax statement does not excuse a property owner from penalties. Interest and penalties attach to all unpaid accounts starting Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2027.

Savings per statement

Johnson's office said electronic delivery saves about one dollar per statement in postage and printing costs. Last year's version of the same announcement pegged the savings at about 50 cents.

League City tax rates certified

Separately, League City's 2026 tax rates were certified by the Galveston County Tax Assessor Collector on Tuesday, Aug. 4, according to the city's tax rate notice. The no-new-revenue rate is $0.356505 per $100 of assessed value. The voter-approval rate is $0.465935 per $100.

The county notice also said Truth-in-Taxation notices have been released. Property owners who want to weigh in on proposed tax rates can visit Texas.gov/PropertyTaxes.
