League City's volunteer firefighters are inviting residents to climb 110 stories on Saturday, Sept. 5, to honor the 343 firefighters killed on Sept. 11, 2001.
The League City Volunteer Fire Department (LCVFD) holds its annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb from 8 a.m. to noon at Clear Creek Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2305 E. Main St. The event falls the week before the 25th anniversary of the attacks, which lands on Friday, Sept. 11.
Each participant will climb the equivalent of 110 stories, matching the height of the World Trade Center towers, according to the city's announcement. The department said the climb honors the firefighters who gave their lives that day.
Residents do not have to complete the full climb to take part. The LCVFD said participants are welcome to walk, climb or simply attend to watch.
The department, an all-volunteer organization, has held the stair climb annually. It hosted the event at the same stadium in September 2025.
