League City residents can swim for free, honor fallen firefighters and drop off hazardous waste all in the same month.
The city's official September events calendar lists more than a dozen programs and gatherings across the next four weeks. Here are the highlights.
Labor Day weekend: free swim and 9/11 Stair Climb
Two city pools open at no charge Saturday, Sept. 5, through Monday, Sept. 7. Hometown Heroes Pool runs 1–5 p.m. each day. Walker Street Pool runs 1–7 p.m.
That same Saturday morning, the League City Volunteer Fire Department hosts its 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2305 E. Main St., from 8 a.m. to noon.
The event marks the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, and honors the 343 firefighters who died that day. Participants climb the equivalent of 110 stories, matching the height of the World Trade Center towers. Walking, climbing and spectating are all welcome.
Sept. 8: blood drive
The community blood drive returns Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center, 400 W. Walker St. The city said League City donors have helped save 824 lives so far in 2026 and are on pace to beat the 2025 record of just over 1,000. Every donor receives free socks and a voucher for free admission to ARTECHOUSE Houston, according to the city's blood drive announcement.
Sept. 12: hazardous waste drop-off and stargazing
Residents can dispose of household hazardous waste Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hometown Heroes Park. The event is open to League City residents only.
That evening, Astronomy in the Park runs 6–9 p.m. at Rustic Oaks Park.
Sept. 19: community health fair
A community health fair takes over Hometown Heroes Park on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sept. 25–26: music and EcoFest close the month
Friday, Sept. 25, brings Music in the Historic District to League Park, 512 2nd St., from 7–10 p.m. The free acoustic series is a partnership among the League City Folk Association, the League City Historical Society, Visit League City and the city itself, according to the Historical Society's event page. Attendees are encouraged to bring food, drinks and a chair.
Saturday, Sept. 26, EcoFest runs 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Center.
