A small-batch ice cream shop and specialty coffee bar share a storefront at 610 E. Main St. in League City.
League City Scoop Shop and Wayside Coffee Co. opened their side-by-side shop in August, Community Impact reported. Both businesses celebrated their grand opening on the same day.
The ice cream shop is a second location for Katie Chandler, who owns Friendswood Scoop Shop at 901 S. Friendswood Drive. The Main Street storefront marks the first brick-and-mortar location for Wayside Coffee Co., which previously operated as a mobile coffee trailer, according to a Community Impact preview published earlier this year.
The two businesses share a wall. They also share a history.
In a Coast Monthly feature published Aug. 29, Chandler said Wayside Coffee was among the local businesses she regularly collaborates with at the Friendswood shop.
"We do a lot of collaborations with local businesses like Wayside Coffee, Rise Cupcakes and Froberg's strawberries," Chandler told Coast Monthly.
Chandler attributed the success of her Friendswood location to a family-friendly atmosphere, community involvement and high-quality ice cream. The original shop is known for signature items like ice cream nachos, which pair scoops of small-batch ice cream with crunchy waffle cone chips for dipping.
League City Scoop Shop offers ice cream made daily with local ingredients, according to Community Impact. The flavor lineup includes vanilla, strawberry, cookies and cream, sweet cream, milk chocolate, rich chocolate, lemon dream, mint Oreo, salted caramel and a signature Wayside Coffee flavor.
On the coffee side, Wayside Coffee Co. serves a customizable "Your Way Latte" with syrup options such as mocha, lavender, sage and salted caramel. The menu also features house-made cold brew, espresso tonic, honey lavender lattes and a cold brew cola made with Coke and cherry bitters. Non-coffee drinkers can order matcha lattes, earl grey tea, elderberry hibiscus iced tea or lavender hot cocoa.
In the days before the grand opening, Wayside Coffee Co. posted on Instagram about the final push to get the shop ready.

The conjoined shop sits along League City's Main Street corridor, an area that has drawn steady interest from small businesses and restaurants in recent years.
